Artist Statement:
Through this video we hoped to express the evolution of human beings interactions with space. We chose to focus on moments both ordinary to life on earth and monumental in regards to space exploration. Towards the end of the video, we hoped to connect the two in order to signify the possibility of one day being able to sustain life outside of the Earth. All of these moments represent who we are as humans and explorers. This video was made to evoke thoughts of probability and wonder regarding space exploration. All footage in regards to space was acquired from NASA. The silhouettes were done at Interlochen Arts Academy with a sheet and colored gel lights. The music is an original composition by Aliya Ultan. The film was directed and edited by Stella Kim and Taylor Lundeen. The actors featured in the film were Julien Dresbach, Adlir Linseman, Karla Marti, Cris Diaz, and Maggie Shepherd. The quote was taken from Carl Sagan's "Pale Blue Dot". The project was curated under auspices of the department of Comparative Arts at Interlochen Arts Academy.
