Over the last two decades, physics in China has grown and grown – so much so that the country now has its eyes on building the world’s next big particle-physics collider, something that would have been unthinkable in the past.
Not surprisingly, physicists in China are writing ever-more scientific papers – in fact, by some estimates, they publish more than physicists in any other country.
To support the growing band of physicists in China, IOP Publishing, which publishes Physics World, has just launched a new website. IOPChina will offer researchers information in Chinese about how to publish their research in IOP journals as well as provide section for librarians and the latest news.
“We have a long history of supporting and engaging with the scientific community in China,” says Antonia Seymour, publishing director at IOP Publishing. We were the first international publishing house to open an office in China, in Beijing in 2000. Over the past 20 years, our team in China has continually explored new ways to help Chinese researchers with all aspects of publishing.”
More information about IOP Publishing’s activities in China such as workshops, publication partnerships and conference attendance will be published on the site in the coming months.”Our authors, reviewers, editorial board members and customers from China are very important to us, and the site is a way for us to increase our engage with the scientific community,” says Elaine Tham, associate director, publishing at IOP Publishing.
IOP Publishing has also announced that Qi-Kun Xue, a condensed-matter physicist from Tsinghua University, as its chief scientific advisor for China. Make sure you keep an eye out for the upcoming Physics World China Briefing, which will be published in September and feature an interview with Xue.
